Communal strife are getting more and more common in the realm of the Indian state of West Bengal and the recent rape and murder of the teenage Dalit girl at North Dinajpur district’s Kaliagunj has exasperated the scenario. The girl had gone missing on her way to tuition classes a few days back. Though a person named Javed Akhtar, known to the victim girl, has been arrested, administration is yet to adopt more proactive measures. The governmental inanition has angered the local people such that they have come to the street to make the administration move. What’s more unfortunate, police resort to lathi charge and serious oppression to vacate a blocked road by locals demanding justice. And all these have led to political confrontations between the ruling Trinamool Congress government and BJP in the opposition. Nevertheless, Bengal government’s antipathy to Hindu lives demands attention.
