The sole intention is to takeover management of globally acclaimed Chidambaram Temple from the Dikshitars by the Tamil Nadu Government headed by DMK. Dīkṣitars or Thillai Vazh Anthaanar are a Vedic Shaiva Brahmin servitor community of Tamil Nadu who are based mainly in the town of Chidambaram and have been in the charge of the revered Temple for centuries and never before anyone dared to point a finger to them. But this year on June 27, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department official Velvizhi along with two female police personnel citing weird allegations from devotees desecrated the temple premises when Aani Thirumanjanam festival was going on. The officials alleged denial of permission to devotees to enter Kanagasabai compelled them to inquire. But to do the same officials did not try to seek permission. Dikshitars tried to resist the entrance and as a result, Dikshitars were booked. Apart from this “ The Communemag”, famed digital news channel and BJP State Secretary SG Suryah were also booked to bring the issue to the public platform.
It’s worth mentioning, Supreme Court of India has ruled that the government cannot interfere in temple management. Despite such strict orders from the apex court, DMK government created controversy through HR&CE officials. Dark days are ahead indeed.
