The stunning rise of India in the global political scenario is detested by an assortment of power blocs who leave no stone unturned or make use of any ploy to defame the country. Latest to join the bandwagon is Barack Hussein Obama II, erstwhile president of the United States of America. All of a sudden he has become too conscious of minorities in India and has been perceived to express his intense grief for their sorry condition. But the question remains whether he is aware of the definition of minority in India. Or does he consider Muslims as the sole minority population in India and living under ruinous conditions.
What’s the definition of minority in English Dictionary? It refers to a group of people who differ racially or politically from a larger group of which it is a part. Does the former US president know that Hindus are also a minority in several parts of India? According to latest researches, in no less than nine constituent states and union territories including Ladakh, Nagaland, Manipur, Punjab and Kashmir, Hindus happen to be the minority living in hapless conditions. It seems Mr. Obama is concerned of Muslims in particular despite he remains unaware of the entire scenario. Lastly, minorities, as enshrined in the Constitution of India, do enjoy more rights in India. But minority Hindus can’t. Reasons? They are yet to be declared as minorities.
